Voices of Hope Women's Conference, April 27, 28 2018

As a tour guide, I have had many visitors ask to talk to "real Amish"  This perplexes me.  I don't quite understand what their definition of "real" means.  First of all, Amish are people.  Aren't people real?  Maybe it stems from the unanswered questions that flood their minds. Once they have opportunities to interact, all of a sudden the curiosities are summed up by saying, "Oh, they are a lot like us, except they shun ownership of certain worldly things."

I use this illustration as a lead in to introduce you to 6 former Amish women who themselves, have questioned their own culture. They too, found themselves growing up in surroundings that were oddly different from their own.

On April 27 and 28, 2018, the attendees of the first Voices of Hope Women's Conference will be hearing first hand of what takes place in the thoughts and hearts of children, teens and young adults as they are challenged by their own families to "stay Amish".

  Dena Hershberger

I first learned about Dena Hershberger through her live FB videos.

I found her to be very confident in her "new skin".  Dena was born and raised Swartzentruber Amish.  A group that is considered to be very separated even from the most conservative Old Order Amish.

She exudes a zest for life, new adventures, family and friends.  She also has recently authored her first book which will be available at the Voices of Hope Women's Conference.

This is a rare opportunity to publicly attend a conference in which 6 women from various Amish groups come together and share their riveting, life changing stories.  The conference will be held in the heart of the largest Amish community in the country, Holmes County, Ohio.www.visitamishcountry.com

This would be a wonderful opportunity to plan a get-a-way and explore the area as well as attending this very unique yet informative conference.

A few of the speakers will have their personal books available to sell and you will have time to talk to the speakers and ask questions.

You can register on EventBright under Voices of Hope Women's Conference. The cost is $75.00 for both days and includes the conference, dinner on Friday evening and lunch on Sat.  Discounted lodging rates are being offered at the Berlin Grande Hotel.  www.berlingrandehotel.com

Come and experience "real people!"
